Great manual for new practitioners. I would say that it is best for middle childhood. Like the flexibility the manual offers.

This is the therapist's manual to the Coping Cat manual. It is broken down by session number and helps you prepare for the next session. It includes tips from other clinicians. It suggests activities, but does not closely follow the activities in the actual Coping Cat manual. As an intern using a manualized treatment for the first time, I appreciate the easy and quick read and it helps me feel that I have a good working plan for my patient.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has excellent data for efficacy in pediatric anxiety disorders. The Coping Cat method developed by Dr. Kendall is the one used in the majority of studies. This is the Coping Cat manual, very quick to read and well structured.

Helpful and effective.

This book is excellent for therapists that practice cognitive behavioral techniques. It is easy to follow and has clear suggestions that are easily incorporated into practice.

Easy to use. A bit hokey, even for little kids, but the main idea is pretty universally applicable.

This program is excellent for my work with anxious children. I wish you had it in Spanish, since I live and work in Mexico!!

It's a tried and true approach to structured cbt sessions with kids and it still holds up, as long as you are able to modify the techniques appropriately for the number of sessions you have with a given pt (16 is not always feasible).

About the Author

Kylene Beers, Ed.D., is a former middle school teacher who has turned her commitment to adolescent literacy and struggling readers into the major focus of her research, writing, speaking, and teaching. She is author of the best-selling When Kids Can't Read/What Teachers Can Do, co-editor (with Bob Probst and Linda Rief) of Adolescent Literacy: Turning Promise into Practice, and co-author (with Bob Probst) of Notice and Note: Strategies for Close Reading and Reading Nonfiction, Notice & Note Stances, Signposts, and Strategies all published by Heinemann. She taught in the College of Education at the University of Houston, served as Senior Reading Researcher at the Comer School Development Program at Yale University, and most recently acted as the Senior Reading Advisor to Secondary Schools for the Reading and Writing Project at Teachers College. Kylene has published numerous articles in state and national journals, served as editor of the national literacy journal, Voices from the Middle, and was the 2008-2009 President of the National Council of Teachers of English. She is an invited speaker at state, national, and international conferences and works with teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools across the US. Kylene has served as a consultant to the National Governor's Association and was the 2011 recipient of the Conference on English Leadership outstanding leader award. Kylene is now a consultant to schools, nationally and internationally, focusing on literacy improvement with her colleague and co-author, Bob Probst. Robert (Bob) Probst is the author of Response and Analysis, he is coeditor (with Kylene Beers and Linda Rief) of Adolescent Literacy: Turning Promise into Practice, and coauthor (with Kylene Beers) of Notice and Note: Strategies for Close Reading and Reading Nonfiction, Notice & Note Stances, Signposts, and Strategies all published by Heinemann. Bob has also published over one hundred articles, chapters, and monographs in national and international publications. Bob began his teaching career as high school English teacher and then became a supervisor of English for a large district in Maryland. He spent most of his academic career at Georgia State University where he is now Professor Emeritus of English Education. After retiring from Georgia State University, he served as a research fellow for Florida International University. Bob is now a consultant to schools, nationally and internationally, focusing on literacy improvement. He works in schools with his colleague and co-author, Kylene Beers. Bob has served as a member on the Conference on English Board of Directors, an NCTE journal columnist, a member of the national advisory board to American Reading Company, and a member of the NCTE Commission on Reading. As a Junior High Language Arts teacher, I have relied heavily on the Notice and Note strategies for fiction, but really needed strategies to teach the required nonfiction. The book is simple to read, contains wonderful, usable resources, and the strategies are easily understood by my students. I have already handed this book off to our science department, and they are excited to purchase their own books and incorporate the techniques, as well. This book is wonderful. It's written for an educator and like a text book, but it isn't dry. The authors throw in some humor with side comments, the examples of lessons are great guides, and the resources for the book online (or in the appendix) are wonderful! My students love the sign posts, and it defiantly makes it easier on me. I know I'm hitting my standards and teaching my kids skills they will always use

Where Can I start.....Well I became a little upset when I found out that Pastors have been made aware of these books through seminary school, but tend to steer their members away from it.. The last time I checked I have to answer for myself before God not them!! So how I found out about this book was through a YouTube video Called "The forgotten books of the bible" I never knew that this used to be part of the original 1611 KJV Bible but later on it was removed, this blew my mind. As I began to read through the scriptures I realized more & more that it agree's with the Bible "The Wisdom of Jesus The son of Sirach" or Ecclesiasticus reads just like Proverbs. They sound so much alike that if one removed the titles of both books you wouldn't even know which book you were reading. I can go on & on about this book "Bel & the Dragon" sounded a little scary to me at first but it's about The Prophet Daniel steering the King away from False Idol worship. He also takes it a step further a proves to the King that they are false! We also learn in the book of 1 Maccabees about Hanukkah & how it came about, also we find the Lord attending Hanukkah in the Gospel of John 10::22 which is also called the "feast of dedication". I don't wanna ruin it for the reader & tell everything. All I can say is read it for yourself & you decide weather or not you should be reading it. Hosea 4:6 Says My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge because thou hast rejected knowledge, that thou shalt be no priest to me; seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. We should stop rejecting God's knowledge.

Most mainstream christians are stuck with only being taught with in the boundaries of the 66 canonical books that are in the bibles we read today. When in reality there are many books taken out by the early church for reasons unknown. For example Book of Enoch was found amongst the dead sea scrolls along with 21 fragments of book of Noah only book that was not amongst the scrolls was book of Ester which happens to be only canonical book in bible today that doesn't even mention God. Do your research and find the truth and the truth shall set you free!!!!

Just received this today. Good Quality book but the only think I don't like is that the print is very small so I should have listened to one of the other reviewers when they said that the print was so small that they could not read it. I am able to read it but it would be much more comfortable to read if the print was at least twice as large as what they have used.

The Bible is Amazing! A Must Have to increase your knowledge faith and Joy! Excellent for researching!

About the Author

This is our first introduction to Poppleton. My son and I both love him. There are three short stories in this book (Neighbors, The Library, and The Pill). They are all very entertaining. We especially love "Neighbors" where Poppleton cannot control himself and sprays his neighbor with the hose. The picture in this scene is hilarious and actually makes both of us laugh out loud. My five year old son has requested more of these books, which is about the highest praise you can get from a reader. I would highly recommend this book due to the nice bed time length of the stories, the lovely illustrations, and the comical life of the pig named Poppleton. Happy reading!!

Read this book as a kid and loved it. Just had to have it for my daughter :) it was in great condition and was a great trip down memory lane.

Nice introductory book to the pig, Poppleton, and his friend, Cherry Sue. Easy, funny, sort stories for the beginning readers and to be read to toddlers. Nice illustrations in the three short stories, Neighbors, The Library, and The Pill. My young grandchildren love these books.

A former registered nurse, Susan Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Hawai‘i in 1985 and is a graduate of the university’s Marine Option Program, where she specialized in marine science journalism.
