It reminds me of the saying "Never again" that was heard after the Nazi Holocaust in the last century. Sadly to day the world is hearing "Once again!" because of live organ harvesting of prisoners and prisoners of conscience.

I had already read through the book before I purchased it. My friend recommended it to me and I read it within few days. I was deeply shocked and felt hard to believed the crime happening in China now in the modern society. I decided to buy one for myself for further reading and collection. I hope everyone can read this book! HIGHLY ROCOMMANDED!

Human life is the most precious. This book exposes the greatest tragedy of our time - complete disregard of human life value. Gangsters took over a nation and brutally persecute tens of thousands of innocent people in the most evil and inhumane way that ever existed in history - forced live organ harvesting. I will recommend and I hope that every person around the world read this book and try to understand the facts and the messages it carries.

I am hoping everyone will read this book. It is appalling what is happening in the "People's" Republic of China. The PRC admits to using executed prisoners for 90% of organ "donations". The rest of the world is left to believe that these executed prisoners are guilty of a recognizably capital offense, and have received a fair trial with adequate legal defense in a legitimate legal setting, and have given consent. This is not the case. Why so few are investigating this situation, like governments and media, is very interesting. And the complicity and cooperation among pharmaceutical companies, medical schools and scholarly journals is also very interesting.

From the 1970's when the first transplant operations were performed in China, the only source of replacement organs was from executed prisoners.An exponential increase in transplant operations started in 2000, concurrent with the persecution of Falun Gong. It is estimated that between 40-60 thousand Falun Gong practitioners may have died to fulfill transplant requirements to Chinese and foreign recipients. Christians, Uighurs and other minorities may also have been killed as a result of the practice.This barbaric, state sponsored practice brings back memories of the Nazi Holocaust, but is possibly on a larger and more organised scale as China expands into a international market economy!An interesting and informative read for the general reader and an excellent introduction for those researching this topic!

Love all Todd Parr’s books and illustrations but this one in particular is my favorite. Love this one the most because it reinforces the important message to kids to be grateful and thankful for what you have. Initially planned on keeping with our (seasonal) Thanksgiving book collection but now have it out year round on our bookshelf.

I wish they had this book when I was growing up. This book and other Todd Parr books teach the reader emotional lessons that are critical for anyone to develop into a functional, emotionally non reactive adult. If you are an adult and weren't prepared properly to be an adult by your parents, it's not too late- read Todd Parrs book.Always an emotional and meaningful experience for me when I read these books, they hit a lot of sore spots, but they get through to me each and every time!

Now, a retired kindergarten teacher, I first ran into a Todd Parr book by accident. The title: The Dos and Don'ts of Underwear.It became the most requested book in both sections of kdgn. The kids loved the book and laughed out loud everytime I read it. His style and kid-like drawings were a hit. I now have/own all of his books and just recently bought: The Thankful Book.It is delightful and ALL can relate to the subject matter. I have given away numerous copies of The Grandma Book and TheGrandpa Book to friends having their first grandchild. Don't hesitate! All of Todd Parr's books are GREAT and a starting pointfor discussions and writing a book of your own!

Very cute, silly and can evoke great conversation! Our 4 year old granddaughter stopped her mom after the first page and asked her what she was thankful for! The words are few but it's a great theme and important to remember gratitude!

The colorful pictures and down-to-earth text were enthusiastically received by the young children at my church. I used the book for the children's sermon just before Thanksgiving and then donated the book to the church library.

We have many of the Todd Parr books, and I just love the positive message in all of his books. My son is 7 and still loves them as well. The illustrations are very different from any author illustrator and the multi-colored people and body parts make for a wide interpretation of the words on the page. The books are simple and short, but we come back to them over and over again. I highly recommend this one, which focuses on being thankful for different aspects of life.

Bright, Fun, Meaningful, this is an essential book for your young child's collection. Makes a great gift.

I base my review on the text itself but the Kindle edition is a disgrace.This was a fascinating look into the issue surrounding the return of looted classical art work purchased by the Getty over the years. It is well written and develops a good chronological timeline as well as insight into the personalities involved that was not readily apparent if you read only the newspaper accounts. I would agree with most of the four- and five-star reviews here on Amazon.For Kindle customers I have this to add: this digital edition is a disgrace; I have notified Amazon. There are numerous editing errors, none of the photos are included, and there was no indication until I got to the end of the text that there were interesting and informative notes. In the "Notes" section there were two types of indicators for the notes, some linked back to the text and some did not. Some notes were preceded with this symbol "[>]" in front of the note, which links back to the text; others merely had what appears to be a page number in front of the note but the number did not link back to the text nor did the digital edition provide page numbers! Truly a disappointment.

I NEVER knew museums were into such skulduggery ! I always assumed that with their cultured airs they were cultured people of cultured tastes and impeccable standards.This book was an amazing education on how museums come by their valuable collections. This book centers on a particular scandal however, it is hard to imagine that this does not continue to some degree today.The looting of antiquities to fill the worlds' leading museums and the originating countries' fights to get the items back is a riveting read.Most museums required "incontrovertible " absolute proof of an item's being looted and sold through the black market before they would give it back to the requesting country. It was noted that this is tougher proof than is required for a murder trial ! Acquiring the treasured item....not so much proof needed. Giving it back.......more proof needed than to convict a murderer ! Amazing.It's a great read. Highly recommend it even if you're not a museum buff and familiar with all the antiquities being discussed.

The stories of illegally excavated art investigated in this book span decades of smuggling, legal battles, and near constant prevarication on the part of museums. It's a fascinating look at corruption and hypocrisies in museums, all the more interesting and surprising (to me, at least) because I wasn't familiar with these pieces of art or the Getty's legal woes before picking up this book.When one thinks about it, it's not remotely surprising that many of the antiquities displayed around the world in museums are looted or illegally exported, given the historical plunder of source countries. What's surprising is the complicity of museums, and the lengths to which the world's leading museums went to protect their acquisitions' veneer of legitimacy. The Getty and other museums used their missions of public education as an excuse to build prestige by acquiring looted antiquities, all the while declaring their devotion to legitimizing the antiquities trade.It's an amazingly well researched book. Complicated import/export laws, museum policies, and foreign legal proceedings are explained in a way that is easy for someone completely unfamiliar, such as myself, can easily follow.

Wow - reads like a thriller and packed full of information. Not only does the author expose the ugly history of looted antiquities, but he skillfully sets forth the historical conundrum. If some of the antiquities had not been preserved in American and European museums they might not have survived war and destruction. But shouldn't countries have a right to their patrimony? Even now, archeological and cultural items are being destroyed in Iraq and Syria. The brilliance of "Chasing Aphrodite" is that it puts the issues in historical context and doesn't settle for an easy answer. I was amazed at how many elite museums in the U.S. were involved in buying looted art, which is most likely still going on to some extent. This book was an outgrowth of investigative reporting and subsequent series in the L.A. Times. Interesting characters and well written. Makes me want to go back and read “House of Getty” again.

The story started a little slow but picked up as it went on. Definitely for younger readers and not that long of a read. Builds on the last story which had a little better plot than this one but still worth the read if you liked the first book.

Too much "Harry Potter" kind of stuff. Requires too great,suspension of disbelief. Not nearly up to the Hangman's Daughter series. I do not know to whom I might recommend this yarn.Oliver Potzsch is, nonetheless, an excellent writer.

I gave this a 4-star rating, just because I'm not so much into the "magical" aspect of the story. I love this author's depth in the historical aspects of his stories. I went onto Google Earth to look at the places he referenced and looked into the history of those places. It's stories like his that make me interested enough to look further into the history of what he writes about.

Oliver P. Writes great books, wonderful imafry, excellent characters, great dialogue. Thus book is no exception. A winderful addition to the Black Musketeers series, and I hope the next book is published soon.

I LOVE any books by Oliver Potzsch. He is absolutely my most favorite author. I love how he weaves actual historical facts into a wonderful, hard-to put-down book. The story is a great read and it always amazes me how he can create a very believable, thrilling, suspenseful story around fact. I only wish I could send him a personal note telling him how much I enjoy his work! Thanks Oliver!

I'm a big Oliver Poetsch fan. His Hangman daughter series is fantastic. I enjoyed the Black Musketeers and the Sword of Power was okay. I think this one suffered a little in translation and also trying to appeal to a broader audience.

This is well-written young-adult fiction. The context is engaging. This is a good fun-read for adults as well. It is worth the time spent.

This book was beautifully done as a tribute to a great singer and song writer, who deserves this tribute. The photographer has an acutely sensitive eye. He picked up her beauty, charm and true essence.The photos are stunning! Just love it!

If you are a big Amy fan, then you will love and appreciate this book. I am thankful for any new pictures of Amy, and that’s what this book gave me. Plus some new stories! Thank you Blake for sharing these photos with all of her fans and pointing out that you were the first Blake she thanked in her Grammy speech. Never realized that!

This was a gift and my friend absolutely loves it!

This book is a joke and a shock coming from a publisher who normally has the highest standards for Art and Photography books. This book is populated with not many photographs and not ANY good ones. This is not the work of a professional but her old boyfriend who is cashing in with his blurry , out of focus and in general amateurish snap shots. Taschen also has his oversized text blown up to fill up as much space as possible. This is a shameless mess , anything but a tribute and I recommend all fans of Amy Winehouse and photography to ignore this over priced mess. By the way, I bought it at a local Barnes & Noble... it was sealed so I could not see the insides of the book , but being Taschen I took a chance , plus I saw the good review here. THANKFULLY , they let me return it which is where I just came from so the disgust is fresh.

First of all the women who commented below knows nothing about Amy Winehouse. Blake Wood was one of her best friends. He was the one that shot the photos for this book. Her ex-husband was ALSO named Blake. So get your facts straight.This book is a beautiful & delicate recollection of Amy in her most private and free state of being. The pressures she endured in her life were immense and this book gives us a glempse of happier moments in the young star’s life that catapulted almost overnight. She had a a lot to say and do and unfortunately she left us all too soon. I love these shots and the layout is gorg! Would buy again for holiday gifts to all my music lovers:)

The book is beautiful. I love seeing shots of her I've never seen before so it was a treat. The one of her laying on the beach is my favorite. I also love his other shots of nature, the scenery. Someone said it's from one of her ex bfs, they are wrong. This is a different Blake who was close friends with Amy. I have this book out on display for everyone to see .

She was a perfectly healthy third-grade teacher when she first noticed a black line flit across her eye and disappear. After a series of doctor appointments, temporary vision losses, and hospital stays, she gradually realized that at some point she would be completely blind. She began to learn Braille and eventually checked into a center to learn new life skills. Her emphasis is not on the hospitals and the rehab center but on coming to grips with her disability and all the accompanying emotions of fear, anger, despair, and acceptance. Her rocky relationship with her boyfriend is realistically and poignantly portrayed. Since the ending downplays the serious obstacles she has yet to face, the story is uplifting, and readers will find the pages turning quickly. Although intended for a much younger audience, Alexander's Mom Can't See Me (1990), in which life with a blind mother is described by her nine-year-old daughter and shown in photos by George Ancona, may interest readers of this autobiographical account. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. The author, who became blind as an adult, writes honestly and movingly about adjusting to life as a blind woman in a sighted world. The reading level is written for grades 7-12, but adults would also enjoy reading this autobiography.I wish the author would publish a new edition of this book and combine it with her second autobiography, which was published two years later, in 1997. The sequel, which I read first, made far more sense once I was able to locate this book - Taking Hold: My Journey Into Blindness, which is out of print and difficult to find.

Great true story! Easy, fast read.... and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author shared her experience well, and would be helpful and encouraging to anyone who may be facing a similar vision loss.
