This book does an amazing job at talking about introductory chemical oceanography concepts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in search of knowledge about the chemistry of the sea.

We covered a good deal of this text in an undergraduate chemical oceanography class at UC-Davis. It provided a good background into the science and assumes no extensive background in chemistry. There is a strong emphasis on carbonates and for those who are not deficient in manipulating equations, the formulas should be relatively easy to follow. Each chapter comes complete with references and the appendices are very thorough. In my opinion, the index could have been more complete and included more search possibilities, I did have trouble finding very specific items. I come from a biological background and was able to follow every chapter in the Pilson's book. Pilson writes very clearly, and I intend to keep this book as a general reference.

This has been a great book to look at as my fiancé and I plan our wedding. It has brought questions to our attention that we didn’t even think to ask. A friend recommended to book to me, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone planning a destination wedding.

Planning a wedding it exciting, this book is just.. meh. It gives a 'general' overview of planning a destination wedding. For anything substantial towards my wedding planning, I have found sites like Pinterest to be far more helpful. If you can find it 'used' it might be worth the easy read but I would not recommend paying full price.

If you're planning a destination wedding, don't think twice. There is so much to do when it comes to a wedding, and this book really puts you in the correct path for beginners. Focuses on what you should do and ask and they even have a timeline that you could follow and plan. Although please note this book is catered towards The American/European continents. But in my opinion if you're planning to have your wedding somewhere in Asia or other continents,its still a good buy.

This book was extremely helpful as we were planning our caribbean destination wedding. It was concise yet thorough and I am happy to say our wedding was a success - very much due in part to this book. It does help to have a hotel wedding planner which did most of the work for us - but this book allowed us to ask educated questions and be prepared for any unknown variables. I highly recommend this book - and have passed this on to many friends who also had destination weddings.

An excellent choice for anyone trying to plan a destination wedding. I'm still in the process of planning mine, but so far this book has been a huge help. Without it, I wouldn't have even known where to start. This book includes time lines; to-do lists; tips on picking the perfect location, what to do if you do/don't plan on visiting your location beforehand, hiring vendors, and planning weekend activities; plus a destination directory, destination wedding worksheets, and LOTS more. I would definitely recommend it to any of my friends.

This is for pie makers that want to try new flavors/ingredients/ideas in pie makingUnfortunately, I am an old dog pie maker that is uncomfortable with air brushing, weird new flavors, etc.

I pre-ordered this book to give to my BIL for his birthday, thinking that he would enjoy some of the very cool pie projects presented in this book. Lots of the pie recipes are right up his alley as he loves so many of the flavor elements in these pies-- maple syrup, peanut butter, chocolate, cocktails. For sure you could go crazy and recreate some of these masterpiece pies, but there are also some simpler creations, and SO many practical tips and tricks to give you new ways to up your pie game! The photographs are out of this world, the writing is crisp and clear (and exciting!) Can't wait to see what my BIL does with the book, and might just need another copy for myself!

i love the flavor combinations and fresh ideas in "the new pie" - thumbing through always gets me ready to create something delicious. their pie crust really will change your life! (but i suggest starting with the fizzy root beer "float".)also, the thought down to every detail of the book design are inspired... recipes w both weight and volume measurements! a fully sourced equipment list with everything but a bar code! but i must say, having difficulty levels on the recipes is the best part bc i know what i'm getting myself into before i start lol.

But this book with it's alluring pies like the "1651 Richmond" (Golden Girls inspired), the "Pittsburgh Proud" (add fries) and so, so many others, has made me determined to bake a pie. The book is complete with ratings for Ingredients (ease of finding), Equipment (Do I have this in my kitchen?), and Construction (ease of assembly). This book truly lives up to its name! I'm in love!

I'm not a planner person, but trying to be. First planner that I've stuck to more than a week. I love the design itself looks stylish, vibrant and attention getting. Planner is easy to follow and not overwhelming or complicated. Very happy with my purchase. thanks! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I would have likes a page or two for "notes" at the end of every month, although there are a few pages at the end of the book.

The weekends are 1/2 size but the weekdays are awesome

It's all super healthy food. Nothing my 7 year old is interested in. Big waste of money. Next time I go to Barnes and Noble and actually check out the recipes.

The first eight pages discuss nutrition, portion sizes, allergies, and safety. My toddler may be more interested in the “ABC’s of Healthy Food” letter correspondences in the future but for now he delights in the vibrantly colored pages as he identifies the foods. Together time in the kitchen is one of my favorite memories from my childhood.This book has paid for itself already with the one recipe we have tried. We substituted dried cranberries for dried cherries, and oh my gosh it tasted delicious. It is seriously better than my typical blueberry muffins; it Including oats, yogurt to replace oil, and whole wheat flower. Nutrition habits are built at a very early age and at my age I still love learning.The recipes are grouped into various meal times and snacks. Each recipe is marked to show activities a child could help with. My son learned to measure flour more accurately, by using a butter knife to level it off. He takes great pride that he helped made the muffins.We spend a half hour reading books each day. I plan to spend an hour a week sharing home cooked meals with his help. We very rarely eat out, due to cost.This book will save is from evenings of mac and cheese and salmon burgers due to its variety. I highly recommend this book.

This has to be the cutest cook book for your little one. I bought this for my almost 4 year old who LOVES Elmo. The book is like a story with recipes. It will provide you with many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks! Everything is pretty simple and most recipes have simple ingredients that you may already have in the fridge or pantry. Also, the book encourages the child to help participate in the cooking process. Letting my toddler help has made him want to try new food. This may be the case since he was the one who 'made' the meal. Either way I love this book!

There are 50 recipes in this book and each one contains at least two steps that a child can safely and easily accomplish. They are divided by course and feature a specific character from Sesame Street on every other page. Icons, suggested variations, preparation times, ingredients, and equipment are listed for each recipe. Tips, educational tid-bits and activity suggestions appear frequently throughout the cookbook. There is a believable mix of tried and true toddler favorites and "dare-to-dream" recipes to tempt your child to try. All of the recipes have beautiful, full-page photographs. All of the recipes are healthy and stress whole foods.

Calls for basic ingredients you probably already have on hand. Ingredients list is written in order of usage so you can concentrate on helping your little helper help! Instructions are written in a clear way, easily grouped so when in action, it's done simply. End products are appealing to eat for the average toddler. Great tips on cooking with little ones. Healthy foods representing alphabet. Highly recommended.My only complaint is that the paper is a bit thin. The cover and ring binding are great, though.

In my family, we're suckers for anything Sesame. This cookbook has a wonderful layout and bright, colorful photos of the food.I've read through the whole book and I appreciate the variety in foods as well as ease of preparation. The longest recipe has 8 simple steps, with the vast majority of recipes having 4-5. There are a handful that even have just 2 steps!This would be a fantastic first cookbook for a child who is curious about what their parents do in the kitchen. Special kid-friendly steps are highlighted so adult and child can prepare a meal together.I have a toddler who will eat anything, but I see this cookbook possibly helping those children who are a bit pickier. There are no super fancy recipes or offensive ingredients. All the ingredients are ones most families keep in their pantry or are easily accessible at any grocery store. No weird ingredients that are only found in specialty stores!I gave this cookbook 5 stars because I very much appreciate when cookbook authors make note of good alternatives for a recipe, such as substituting one fruit for another. I feel like I'm getting twice the amount of recipes and I get more ideas on how to change up a recipe just slightly.

Precious cookbook with easy to follow recipes (catering to young children), that by virtue of their simplicity are pretty widely flexible for the adult to add flavor, texture, cooking time, etc.My 2.5 yo has chosen 2 recipes so far, the zucchini and tomato fettuccine, and the multigrain cherry muffins (pictured above). We added to the first recipe (double garlic and lemon, cook tomatoes down, add basil, chicken, broth, pepper, cook in more Parmesan), and veered wildly from the second (Greek yogurt for plain, extra oil, cake flour for whole wheat flour, craisins not cherries, add vanilla, etc), and both came out surprisingly well.The characters add to the excitement, and the habit of starting with fresh groceries and ending with a pretty mess-free meal, are the main pros to be gleaned here.

This is really an adorable cookbook that I bought on a whim for my 4th grader. We've found some excellent family recipes, and I'm impressed with the quality of recipes. They steer clear of processed sugar and use maple syrup or honey, as well as other healthy ingredients in the recipes. Great tips for cooking with the kids, but the truth is that I've used the book for myself (for the benefit of the family)!

I am more interested in renting a house in New Zealand and in that sense the information was limited. It's not the author's fault, but there were no other books I could have ordered. Lesson learnt.

I like this book. It contains certain details.The table of contents should be revised to contain more details.The title can be revised to contain the concept of apartment rentals, and the contents related to this can be more.

The title is misleading. This book includes much more than instructions on buying a house.Roughly the first half of the book tells the reader all about New Zealand, its geography and climate, its history, and its people. The next section approaches the life styles of the population, and then we are taken, town by town, through each area, again its geography, climate, history, and lifestyles. As we travel more into the book, we get more detailed information of what it takes to get a home and move to the area. We learn about the red tape involved to settle in each area and how to avoid unpleasant surprises.I was surprised at how interesting and readable this book is, for the most part. Other parts are a slog, as the information becomes encyclopedic. But then, this is a reference book, after all, with all the latest information you need. Still it seems odd that so much of the culture and history of New Zealand would be included in a book of this subject. I take it as an appeal to come to New Zealand and make your home there, either as a vacation home or a permanent residence. The details about the country and its beauty give us a compelling reason to explore these pages and take them to heart.
