Meredith Laurence, the Blue Jean Chef, has worked in numerous capacities and settings in the food world. What a beautiful book! Lots of wonderful pictures and many great recipes I can't wait to try in my new air fryer. I know that I'll have fun adapting many of them to suit my needs, too, as there is a wealth of basic knowledge here for the novice air fryer owner.

I bought an air fryer a while ago and need a book to know how to use it. I have read more than 10 air fryer cookbooks thru Kindle Unlimited. This book is the best of all. Great recipes, tips, and photos. I highly recommend.

This is a GREAT book if you have an air fryer. It has a lot of information including but not limited to comparison charts for heating and time control. If you want to cook something store bought she has it covered. If you want to cook something frozen, like frozen French fries, she will suggest to you how to do it. With this book you don't have to re-invent the wheel every time you want to cook something. Without hesitation I would recommend this cook book.

I just received a small 3.7 qt Air Fryer as a gift. I would not have purchased one for myself as I did not think it would be something I would use much as I do not fry anything anyway. It actually has been more useful to me than I anticipated. I had downloaded a couple of Kindle air fryer cookbooks, but they were not really useful for the small round type of air fryer that I have. I normally do not buy cookbooks as I rarely follow a recipe completely. I am blessed to be a fairly good cook that does not have to rely on cookbooks unless baking something that requires a recipe with accurate measurements. I checked this book out from my local library prior to purchasing it so I could determine if the book would be useful to me. It is a fairly basic cookbook with recipes that are not difficult. I will modify some recipes to suit my personal preferences (make my own bread dough versus purchased dough), but the recipes are actually designed for my type of air fryer. I can use the book as a basis for developing other recipes also. I felt that the book was useful enough that it was worth purchasing a copy for myself. The majority of the recipes show a picture. There are no nutritional values for most of the recipes. Most of the recipes are healthier versions of normally fried foods except for the dessert section of course. The recipes do not require a lot of strange or unusual ingredients. Most of the ingredients would normally be found in a well stocked pantry.

I use this cookbook practically every time I plug in my air fryer. The fried fish comes out spectacular w/ a coating of crushed salt & vinegar chips, & the coconut shrimp rivals Red Lobster's! Desserts, entrees, sides--I've tried so many of her recipes, & adapted others. This is an indispensable book if you have that latest new kitchen appliance.

Meredith Laurence always delivers what is promised. I've made a number of recipes and have been very pleased. Her introduction and suggestions are very useful. You know when you're reading this book that a culinary teacher has written it. Very precise. I love it! Don't miss trying the Zucchini Fries! Even good reheated the next day in the air fryer.

Finally, an air fryer cookbook with photos! Pictures speak a thousand words. I've purchased several air fryer cookbooks and they had either black and white pictures or poor quality pictures. I bought them out of desperation because I wanted recipes to use with my air fryer. This book is great and I've tried several recipes and all have turned out very tasty. I highly recommend this book.

This is the best. I have tried chicken fingers. The Spicy London broil is absolutely delicious. Cauliflower cooked in here is terrific. It is a fun appliance. Also fun to try different things. Homemade French fries are so good. I haven't made anything from this book that I didn't like. Great addition to any air fryer. Thanks Meredith.

I love this cookbook! The recipes are simple and they turn out delicious. I made the parmesan cauliflower and maple balsamic glazed salmon for dinner last night and it was perfect! I also made the blooming onion and I was amazed at how easy it was, except I have to hone my knife skills. Next up are the fish tacos and salmon burgers. Thank you!

First, I will state that I am a lovecraft fan, to the point of having written lovecraftian fan-fic,So, of course I have nothing but praise.And I will state when they say complete, they mean complete. I have long since had a full collection of everything lovecraft wrote, so when I got this, I was expecting merely the usual "Complete Works" which never include all the collaborations.Oh, you haven't read the collaborations? Then here's your chance. They are ALL here... Except... again... Ashes with CM Eddy. No doubt once more due to Eddy's grandson refusing to allow publication, AGAIN. (The Man appears obsessed with preventing his grandfathers SS with HPL from seeing publication.)Nor will you find Derleth's "posthumous" Lovecraftian style stories, which while derivative of HPL's work, cannot in any sense be claimed to have been written or co-written by HPL. (Derleth just could not fill HP's shoes, no matter how hard he tried. But he can be thanked for keeping HPL in publication and in the public eye for most of last century.)So, if you are new to HPL, or a die hard fan, you will definitely find it almost tells the truth with its title, and you can't really blame the publishers for Eddy's grandson being an obstinate fool.

Great collection of Lovecraft's works. This is the most expansive collection I've found for an unimaginably cheap price (at the time of writing costing 99 cents). The audiobooks are a bit hit and miss, but for the price is a welcome addition. Just as a note, the audiobooks are found via a link to a google drive on the second-to-last page of the book.

OK, Lovecraft is one of those authors that you either love or hate. His stories are dark, always with supernatural element to them, following a somewhat constant theme of cosmic races that somehow found their way into our planet. If you like this mixture of horror, supernatural, and alien life forms, you will like Lovecraft.I like his style - his tales develop in a deliberately slow cadence, where information is delivered in small doses at a very regular pace, which makes it hard to set a story aside once you start it. His English is polished and elegant, not your 8th grade level prose you find in many authors today; personally, I appreciate reading intelligently written, well composed sentences. If you are a dialog kind of person, be aware that are barely any in his books. Having said that, his descriptions of places, people and monsters are vivid, greatly stimulating your imagination.A few tales are particularly good - "The Dreams in the Witch House" and "At the Mountain of Madness" are the ones I like the best. I have to say, however, that this is not a book to read in one sitting; after some time, the stories and the themes become a bit repetitive; I usually read anywhere between five or ten stores, set the book aside to read something else, and when I'm in the mood, I go back to Lovecraft again.

When I was looking over the choices of Lovecraft ebook collections, what I wanted to know was what each version contained. Some of the earlier reviews on this page clearly applied to earlier editions. A note in the ebook says "...consists purely of his mature and singly authored fiction. This is an excellent resource for anyone traveling in the Northern Virginia area. The maps are well laid out and very clear.

the picture is deceiving, it says 42 edition but ours was 34. it worked for its purpose but it is false advertizing.

I guess I wasn't looking carefully enough, but I didn't expect this to be *the 1999 edition*. Thoroughly out of date, considering the way NVA is developing. And it's also kind of worn. But since I intend to keep it in my car for emergencies, it will probably serve the purpose.

These maps are very hard to read compared to the 2001 edition. I had to get a magnifying glass to find my own street. I live in Arlington and it is very built up. In places less urban, like most of Fairfax or Loudoun Counties, places with lots of empty space, it should be ok..It will not do for a car map unless you take a strong light and a very good magnifying glass with you also. I wish I had gone to a store to buy it. Then I would have seen that it was not good for my intended use.If you wear reading glasses look at it in a store before you buy it. You can still buy it from Amazon, of course..

When I moved to Northern Virginia, from India, I found myself having to learn very fast how to motor around the area. In this, ADC's Street Map of Northern Virginia was a life-saver for me. I have lost count of how many hours I have spent poring over its pages to find out how to get to stores, offices and touristy places. The individual page maps are well laid out with colors used thoughtfully to contrast, without being garish. The text, by and large, is easy on the eyes, barring the smaller street names which require some squinting. Exhaustive index pages make finding streets and locations a piece of cake. Best of all, the maps keep in mind the differing perspectives of drivers as well as pedestrians. In fact, now that I am well familiar with the area, I often find myself flipping the pages just for the sheer peasure of it or to find something new. I must mention in particular the layout maps of the local airports, which are a great help for the unwary. For anyone who has just moved into this area or who wants to explore and discover the area better, there is no better book. Highly recommended!

This really should be titled "Fairfax County" because that's about all it covers. Or "DC suburbs" perhaps. This final book of the "Dragonlance Chronicles" trilogy will not disappoint. In order to pull this off the entire plot has to have been planned out well in advance (indeed, well before starting to write) to avoid a meandering making-it-up-as-I-go-along feel that leaves the reader with the suspicion of being jerked around. Thankfully, authors Weis and Hickman seemed to have avoided this. If forced to guess I would posit that the first book in the trilogy was meant to stand alone in case sales did not warrant sequels. Once it was clear that they had a hit on their hands the next two books were plotted together.The book has many strong points. A few of my favorites:1.) The moral ambiguity of Raistlin. Yes, he generally aids the good guys but it is clear he has an agenda of his own. Very well handled and kept me guessing throughout the book.2.) Kitiara. Utterly ruthless. But does she still have a weakness for Tanis as Lord Soth suspects or is she just toying with Tanis as she claims? Does she even know?3.) The "hangers on" getting a chance to shine. Caramon, Tasslehoff, Flint, Tika, and Laurana all have integral parts to play and are not there for muscle, comic relief, or as a damsel in distress.4.) Well thought out and entertaining sequences featuring Astinus and the library in Palanthas, the sea elves and the city of Istar, and Fizban.On the debit side it seemed that Goldmoon, Riverwind, and Gilthanas fade from the story in this book.The Kindle version is flawless except for the sparse chapter marks on the progress bar. The map is also near useless.Highly recommended. Don't be put off by the role playing game origins of this trilogy.

I had a hard time reading this book. There were parts that were a bit slow, and other parts that were so suspenseful I had to walk away. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though-- I was so invested in the characters that I was getting upset during the last few chapters, when I thought there was no way they could get through their situation. I thought there was no way there could be a happy ending. But in the end, it was very satisfying. I enjoyed the twists and the way the story resolved itself. I look forward to reading the rest of the books about these characters.

This was the 3rd book in the Dragonlance Chronicles. It was a reread and every bit as wonderful as I remember it. I laughed, I cried, but I was never bored. This is an awesome trilogy and I recommend it to anyone that likes dragons, magic, and adventure.

I read this series ages ago. I came across a photo that reminded me of Fizban and decided to revisit my friends from Krynn. I couldn't find my hard cover collection and was given a gift card for Christmas.If you like The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Eragon, or even Harry Potter you'll find something in this series that appeals to you.

For those of you, like I did, that thought volume 4 is the continuation of the series... it really isn't in many ways. First of all the characters are different and you would need to read "Second Generation" to even get an idea of them. Aside from that, it was written much later and others have complained about a drop in story quality. Well enough of Volume 4, this is Volume 3 and it is fantastic. I hate to see a series end, and the entire time I was reading I was wondering how they would wrap up all the action in just one book, but it was done nicely and didn't feel rushed. Again, the realism of the series shines in this book, as the emotions of the characters come to a final climax. If there is any complaint about this series, its that the adventure had to end, but I honestly don't think it could have ended in any better way.

Better than the first time I read them, the Dragonlance Chronicles first trilogy is a story that gets into your heart.I have come to know these people, care deeply about them, and they have become part of who I am.They are family, now, and are always welcome to share their adventures with me, over a mulled wine and some spiced potatoes, of course!From Raist to Tas, and all the shades of dark and light between, I will always have room for them.

Sarah Bakewell’s biography of Montaigne won the National Book Critics Circle Award for biography in 2010. It is a fine book, one that will engage the attention of all readers interested in the subject. That subject, of course, is very wide-ranging. Inspired by the philosophers of antiquity, Montaigne is one of the principal French writers of the Renaissance. To a degree he created the ‘essay’ form and his work has been pivotal for later thinkers. John Florio’s English translation was taught—in my day—as a work of literature itself and it helped to popularize a writer ‘adopted’ by the English as one of their own, at least in interests, spirit and unique personality. Montaigne was claimed by the romantics; he influenced Nietzsche, heartened the postmodernists and remains a writer of global importance and influence.SB’s biography answers the question, ‘how to live?’ in twenty chapters, each of them keyed to a theme in Montaigne’s work. Hence, chapter 9: “Q. How to live? A. Be convivial: live with others.” The themes, however, do not trump the biography. This is not an endless examination of thematic content with an occasional look at the events in Montaigne’s life. It is a systematic biography held together by thin thematic divisions.It is also a very learned biography, expanding at length, e.g., on the civil wars of the period, the driving ideologies, weaponry and specific details, both personal and political. It studies, e.g., the manner in which the texts of the Essays have come down to us, (what we would call) the copy texts, the emendations, the condensations, and so on. There is comparatively little on the content of the Essays themselves, ‘comparatively’ being the operative word. We learn a great deal about Montaigne’s classical influences, the nature of his pyrhonnism, the dimensions of his political associations, his personal relationships, his estate, its winemaking, and so on, but the only essay that is discussed at some length is (as one would expect) the longest of the essays, the Apology for Raymond Sebond.It is sometimes said that the first requirement for a great biography is the author’s love for her subject (balanced, always, by a willingness to speak the truth, wherever its elements might fall). SB clearly admires Montaigne and wishes that today’s thinkers, writers and politicians (Montaigne served in all three capacities) would read him, be inspired by him and take lessons from him.The writing is crisp and clear, direct and candid. While it is undergirded by a great deal of scholarship that scholarship does not drag the book down and bore the reader with tedious details. It contains a bibliography, index and series of endnotes, sufficient to guide the reader to other texts and explore/verify issues that have come under question.The book is very much like its subject—a pleasant, human and humane read that takes on difficult subjects with a light touch and details experiences that will find echoes in the reader’s own heart.Highly recommended.

In this book she gives us a moving biography of Montaigne, a history of the genesis and contents of his marvelous essays, an introduction to the history of editing his great masterpiece, and a lively and fascinating narrative of informed and popular responses to his book in successive eras. Montaigne very much feels like real presence in this book, one with a distinctive personality that is vividly represented by the author. One feels that Bakewell, along with hundreds or thousands of earlier readers have developed a personal relationship with the great writer, and Bakewell helps explain why this in the case even though an overwhelming share of readers of his essays of course have had no contact with him, except through his essays. Bakewell also does a wonderful and interesting job of explaining the very different critical reception Montaigne's essays received among his contemporaries and in succeeding generations of readers, both in France and elsewhere.The ingenuity of the biography helps explain why critical reception of Bakewell's own book was so positive. But the plain fact is that Bakewell is also a stylish writer, capable of holding our fascinated (and occasionally amused) attention, even when she is discussing the minutiae of successive editions or of obscure editorial quarrels. The book was warmly recommended to me by a friend who said flatly it was the best book he'd read in a year or, indeed, in any recent year. You'll probably find this kind of enthusiasm in many of the Amazon reviews. If you're interested in philosophy or in a charismatic writer and thinker in a long bygone, tumultuous era, and if you care about artful construction and stylish writing, this might be the book for you. There is a lot of controversy over this book in AA as it is not conference approved. This book came about from the notes of a member of the Oxford group which was basically a prayer group that Dr. bob attended with Henrietta Siberling for 2 years before he got sober. Bob and Ann Smith attended this group for 2 years never admitting his alcoholism even though that and his financial troubles were well known to the group. One day he admitted to the group he could not control his drinking and they prayed over him, 2 weeks later Bill Wilson rolled into town.There is a lot of wisdom in this book and as AA 12 steps was built on the 4 steps of the Oxford group, I feel it cannot hurt to read this. The Oxford 4 steps were 1. Abandon yourself to God. 2. Make a written moral inventory. 3. Make restitution for harms done. And 4. Work with others. Sound familiar, this is all documented by Gail who started the archives of AA and her lectures on history of AA can be found on AA Podcasts.Another book I highly recommend is the little red book written 10 years after the big book and really gets into the 12 steps in more detail than the 12 and 12.Good luck and I wish you all the best as you trudge the road of sobriety.

This little black book is really something else. I've been going to alanon meetings for about 2 weeks now and my sponsor wants to wait a month before starting my steps. The thing you quickly learn in alanon is that although you may not have a drinking problem, we are still sick with the disease of alcoholism. My loved one is currently in rehab and I just knew I had to do something for myself. I'm learning how to find inner piece and this book (along with others) has been amazing. My only qualm is that it does reference God a lot and that's not really my thing, but I can easily get past that and look at the true message.

I have used this book for 8 years and will eventually have to get a new one for myself. I give them to other folks in the program as it has been my mainstay, especially when I was unable to attend meetings as often as I wanted. I like that it gives a daily meditation, which I live and breath for. It sets me on the right track for my day, and teaches me to internalize the messages in recovery. Used properly, it can be a worthy tool for maintaining one's sobriety. Even though the readings remain the same I get something new every year from the daily inspirations, and this book has spoken to my needs of the moment more times than I can count. It is truly a God-given hand to be held in the face of life on life's terms.

It's a very good publication with daily reminders to living a day at a time.......spiritually and through AA. Make no mistake, this book is used by people in AA and for people who believe in God/a Higher power. I think if you're a spiritual person suffering from an addiction and if you can get past the occasional references to being in AA and you substitute your addiction for alcohol it's a great daily reminder to take things one day at a time. And in reality that's all anyone really has whether you're suffering from an addiction or not.

Too big, I should have paid an extra dollar or two for a smaller one. This is a full page size book and I would love a smaller one to keep in my purse. The words are irreplaceable though!

This time honored book is a reliable source of support for those in recovery. The daily messages serve to help construct a positive thought pattern as we go throughout the day. Richmond Walker wrote one amazing book back in the early 1950s and I have to say that next to the big book and the 12 and 12, this book has been instrumental in my 22 years of sobriety. This book has been by my side the whole time. I cannot recommend it enough. I think it blows the doors off of Daily Reflections which I think was done in a very half measures way. This book is way beyond that one.

This book doesn't get the credit it deserves. If every AA member read and lived by this book, there'd be a lot more happy and sober AA members. It helps teach people to truly live the steps, incorporate them in their lives, learn the traditions, and act responsibly and respectfully within (and outside of) AA. Many of the meditations are taken from quotes in the Big Book. It's a solution based daily prayer and meditation book. Invaluable, in my opinion. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
