I like the quality of the paper. However I realized when I received it they count front and back of each sheet as two pages so it is 52 sheets and equals 109 pages of you use both sides.

This book is Extremely flimsy. I feel like it'll rip and fall apart very easily. Hopefully not the case, only time will tell.

The design is just plainly printed on what is basically a piece of cardstock, the colors are dull, and it's even pixelated. Overall very flimsy and poorly made. It is definitely not worth the price.

It came very fast! Not sure if anyone thought the same thing but I totally thought it was a hardcover book. Bought it for a friend for her birthday and she loved it!

This product is not what you expect when you order it. It's flimsy and the paper most certainly can't support any kind of paint work. I will be asking for a refund.

I purchased this to study for the exam and have found it contains very good information. However, I consider this type of book an investment to not only use as a study guide but future reference. It's frustrating to learn it will be outdated 3 months after I bought it. Of course much of the information will be unchanged, it's still very helpful to study, but now it's outdated. I purchased Kindle edition and am enjoying the advantages of this, BUT, info listed in tables or charts are not at all easy to read. They don't line up well, are choppy, and require you to tab up, down and sideways. The column headings do not flow with content below. I've decided to look in other resources for learning table contents for now, but probably will not purchase Kindle editions in future if all are this way. This is the first I've used Kindle to study, in fact I would appreciate feedback regarding this. Despite my two issues with this purchase, the actual content written is easy to read, yet great, useful content.

I purchased this book for review to take my CAPA exam. I have taken the exam before but let it expire. I have worked PACU before but mostly Preop, Phase 2 now. Honestly, I felt the book was a little over the top. Too detailed about every little system. Like who wants to go over the Krebs cycle again ugh! I had to skim over many parts to try to extract the important stuff. The test is multiple choice and usually asks questions so that you can use your nursing process in regards to pt care. I am not a Critical Care Nurse maybe thats why I found it laborias. However,If I were taking CPAN then maybe it would be more beneficial. I wouldn't recommend this book honestly. I wish someone would just come out with a book that says "CAPA STUDY GUIDE" to take the guess work out. Thanks.

There is a newer edition to this. A good resource for those who want information about caring for patients in the Recovery Room.

i work in PACU and this book has been indispensable. the fact that its an ebook makes it even better because i can search for key works all the relevant material will pop up instead of looking up in the index in a traditional paper book. it covers a little bit of everything including a brief overview of all body systems and then goes into the specifics of anesthesia and recovery.

As a PACU nurse, this book is so helpful thus far!

The basic argument of the book examines how and why own label products have come to dominate supermarket sales and why people have come to accept them and now see them as superior to the more traditional labels. This book looks at mounds of research and intermingles the research with real life examples. I particularly like the examination of the Aldi phenomenon in Germany, where 60% of Germans visit it at least once a month and what lessons supermarkets can learn from them.This is not a book for the small to medium size entrepreneur. It is a very technical book examining how the dominant names in retail, manipulate the market to gain market share, growth and better profitability. It is fascinating to realise how we are being manipulated and how this has changed consumer spending habits. The authors have spent a lot of time researching and then condensing complex research and ideas into this tome. I learnt a lot from it, but I am a business consultant...how much a small entrepreneur could learn and then apply is questionable.I recommend this book as a theoretical/practical treatise for the student of business or manager of a large retail concern so they can better understand how to dominate a given retail market.

Traveling to North Carolina, where Cooper awaits execution, and to Fort Bragg to investigate, Cross and Sampson encounter stonewalling among the military which only intensifies as they uncover a pattern of other military men executed for like crimes they may not have committed. Yes! James Patterson finally makes a return to original form. After a dark age from "Roses Are Red" to "London Bridges" (minus "Four Blind Mice"), we finally see the light with "Mary Mary".This story literally feels like an Alex Cross novel again. The feeling, the writing, the mystery, and also the pacing are all just right. I love how we finally see Alex Cross taking on larger cases as an FBI agent and facing problems that I've been waiting for him to face. Like for example, the danger of being a cop (or FBI agent). There are some pretty powerful moments when we see Alex ask himself if he should retire from the life of chasing bad guys and be normal for once, for his kids. It really adds to the drama and the decision of what he will make. One thing about this story that really surprised me and actually made me cry, was the breakup between Alex and Jamilla (spoilers). I thought it was pretty heart breaking to read. While I didn't like their relationship in the previous novels, I did kinda warm up to them in last one and also a little bit in the beginning of this too. But that still doesn't mean I actually like the romance fully. But the point is that the breakup really surprised me. I found myself caring because there are some big hurts between the two. You can sense that Jamilla hates doing this to Alex and Alex doesn't want to lose Jamilla. It's a touching situation that really gets to me. But you also understand that it is for the best because the circumstances are different and they live in two different worlds. Maybe they could be together and maybe it could have worked. Now that is really powerful. But it also led to Alex and Kayla Coles finally getting into a relationship (yeah!). I'm so happy that happened! Another thing I really want to point out is a small moment when Alex talks to a fellow widow dad who last his wife. I found that moment to be really strong and interesting (consider that the sequel after this goes into Alex's quest to find his wife's shooter). We finally get what it is like for Alex to live everyday and go through that same pain. It sets up perfectly for that storyline, while also providing an emotional moment for this story too.And then we have the negatives. Which surprisingly, there aren't that many. The revelation behind the identity of the killer of this story isn't really done well. The sub-plots are not needed (I wonder why Patterson even uses them). Also, the ending is rushed and I wish he could have added a few more chapters to make it feel satisfying (you will know what I mean). But the one thing I really hate the most is what Patterson did with Christine in this story. I won't give it away, but it really ticked me off. I literally hate her character now. In fact, I'm more angry at Patterson for ruining such a great character that I grew to love from the previous novels. I'm still hurt from what "Roses Are Red" did."Mary Mary" is a return to form for the Alex Cross series and it corrects some of the mistakes made over the last few installments. We see some pretty touching moments and even finally see Alex get with Kayla (which I have been waiting for). I say that it is definitely worth your money and time to read.

Compared to some of the other Alex Cross installments, this one isn't half bad. It may not be as great as "Kiss the Girls" but it does well for a sequel in some areas.I guess what I like about this novel is the "feeling" that I get from it. It feels like an Alex Cross novel, just with a mix of something new. I like the fact that Alex is going to retire from the police force and move on from it, but is also being pressured by the FBI to join them. For once, we see Alex actually going through something that we all can care about. It isn't just about romance and hard breakups (you what I mean). Seeing John Sampson finally fall in love was a good change. The romance was okay and I thought Billie was an okay character. Another thing that did this novel justice was the introduction of a new character named Kayla Coles. I actually really like this character, including her friendship with Alex.But where the novel fails in some areas of the story itself. The villains are nothing special and the twists and turns are not good. And even though I do like the romance between John and Billie, I do think that it could have used some more chapter time. I mean, the ending has John and Billie marrying, but we never once see the proposal or any other development into that area. Also, Alex's relationship with Jamilla Hughes is not really all that convincing. While I do like the character herself, its the romance that I don't like. In fact, I'm hoping that Alex gets with Kayla for some reason, they seem to actually have chemistry.The "Four Blind Mice" is, in my opinion, an okay novel to the series. I think it is worth checking out.

I appreciate James Patterson's Alex Cross series for what it is...murder conspiracies with a powerful ringleader. I also understand the series has many limitations which have been covered in detail by other reviewers.My biggest problem with this book is that I realized Patterson left huge gaps in his narrative that require the reader to just accept things on faith. It is not enough to know who the villans are or even to establish their motives. I needed to know how they were able to make this series of frame-ups work. How were they able to plant DNA evidence at the crime scene? How were they able to mobilize the police or MP's on such short notice? How is it possible that someone not involved in the coverup didn't detect a pattern much earlier in this drama? How were they able to put the murder weapon back in the house without detection? How did these "victim soldiers" pass through the death row appeals process so quickly? Was every District Attorney and every police chief paid to look the other way? Too many questions left me unsatisfied and frustrated. It is as if Patterson had a general outline and didn't take the time or effort to flesh out his story.

There is a gap today in many peoples understanding of the Holy Catholic Faith. What is the magisterium, magisterial teaching, and degrees of intellectual assent to magisterial teaching? In this short and understandable work, the author does a solid job explaining the above in a way that most people who have reached the age of maturity will understand.There are difficulties with trying to explain such a large topic in such a short text. One weakness which I observed is in the second essay ‘Various Organs of Infallibility’. The author cites Tuas Libenter, of Pope Pius IX, to say that the universal and constant consensus of Catholic theologians are to be considered infallible, but he limits those to the scholastic schools from between 1100 to 1750. He cites Scanelli, who observes that “Although the assistance of the Holy Ghost is not directly promised to theologians, nevertheless the assistance promised to the Church requires that He should prevent them as a body from falling into error; otherwise the faithful who follow them would all be led astray”. The first question that this raises is, why is the cut off date 1750, if the Church stills needs their assistance? Also, is this idea advanced by Pope Pius IX based on previous teaching on the same topic, or is this just one thought in his magisterial teaching? The book teaches not every statement in an encyclical is infallible, so is this statement asserting the infallibility of a consensus of theologians here infallible itself? Besides other theologians, who has time to read all the works of the major theologians to determine if there is such a consensus, and doesn’t this present a practical problem to Scanelli’s point? One must rely a great deal on the integrity of the theologians to point out when there is a lack of a consenus, (which many of them did, like St. Alphonsus, who would routinely cite people who disagreed with his opinion and then state why the thought they were wrong). I am afraid that without tying up loose ends on this point, it could lead to a sort of “hyper-infallibility” every time someone reads a few theologians in agreement with each other from that era. Too many times have I heard statements that “all the fathers” taught x, when I know that isn’t true; my concern over this point is to avoid an expansion of those authoritative orations that makes one feel impious if further inquired upon to the priest/speaker about their sources when “all the theologians taught x”.In the fourth essay ‘The Proper Response to an Erring Magisterial Member’ I thought the advice to pray and do penance when one encounters such a thing to be most excellent. It reminded me of a similar exhortation in the Ladder of Divine Ascent by St. John Climacus, that before reproofing one’s brother one should pray and do penance in secret for him.That being said, I felt the last point of examination of conscience, asking “what have I done to deserve better leaders?” to not be so great. A problem I see with such an assertion is that: it creates a desire for earthly success to avoid suffering from bad leaders, rather than the imitation of Christ by being obedient unto death and winning heavenly glory. That quote from St. John Eudes about bad clerics has almost become a traditional Catholic cliche it is so heavily used; while other works on calamity and why bad things happen are neglected such as: St. John Cassian’s conference on the Slaughter of Holy Men, St. Augustine’s homilies on the Persecution of the Faithful by Bad Christians, St. Alphonsus on Calamities, and even more modern works like Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Father Raoul Plus. If we consider the sinfulness of the members of the Church throughout history we should have never had good leaders because we have never deserved them. It doesn’t matter how inept our leaders are, God gives them sufficient grace to do their job. Every penitent should know that it is good to suffer patiently for his sins and every Saint wants to suffer for the Glory of God. Let us not think that God would not allow bad leaders to try His Saints, when He has done it so many times before.If we examine ourselves, we must humbly acknowledge that we deserve to suffer, so we should hasten to do penance. Having good leaders does not mean the members of the Church are no longer sinners or that we “deserve” good leaders.I feel that such a long objection seems unfair to a good work on an important and misunderstood topic. I would still encourage you to read, buy and distribute this to your friends and family. In my opinion, its presentation is solid and should appeal to more than just traditional Catholics. I certainly plan on passing around my copy.

This is an excellent book. Very informative, historically based, and an easy read. In a time where members of the Magisterium are uttering falsities and confusing teachings, this book is a MUST READ to put it all in context and understand what it means to submit to Magisterial Authority, and what it does NOT mean. Highly recommend.

As I’ve said many times before: if you want to know what the Catholic Church REALLY teaches, there’s no better source than Fr. Ripperger. Read his books and watch all his videos. Start there, end there, and if you want even more depth, read the books he recommends. Suddenly, everything becomes crystal clear.

I would recommend this book for any person, especially Catholics, who wish to learn what is meant by infallibility. Fr. Ripperger lays everything out with the necessary detail, citations, and, moreover, with charity. As a Catholic struggling to understand and deal with the various contradictions of the Faith by persons in authority, this book has been incredibly helpful for me. Now I know how to remain faithful to Holy Mother Church and to God.

In a recent interview published by the Catholic Herald, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana, Kazakhstan made the following observations:"Unfortunately, for some decades some clergy have accepted these ideas of the world. Now however they are following them publicly. When these things continue, I think, there will be an interior split in the Church of those who are faithful to the faith of their baptism and of the integrity of the Catholic faith. There will be a split with those who are assuming the spirit of this world and there will be a clear split, I think. One can imagine that Catholics, who remain faithful to the unchangeable Catholic truth may, for a time, be persecuted or discriminated even on behalf of those who have power in the exterior structures of the Church?"This profound and long running “fourth great crisis in the church” has forced on the Catholic laity the obligation to resist the errors and novelty emanating from the highest levels of the Catholic Church.Because of the rareness of this type of crisis there is a great deal of debate and confusion over the proper Catholic response to members of the hierarchy (be they bishops, cardinals or popes) who publicly profess theological error and/or engage in various novel practices.In response to the need of lay Catholics for a principled method for dealing with this crisis Father Chad Ripperger has recently published a short book entitled Magisterial Authority. This text is a reprint of three articles written by Father Ripperger for the English Journal Christian Order addressing the nature and limits of Magisterial Authority.Father Ripperger is former professor of Dogmatic Theology and Thomistic Philosophy at the FSSP seminary in Lincoln Nebraska, and as such, is eminently qualified to author such a book. This short set of articles removes emotionality from this debate and presents a comprehensive set of Catholic principles upon which Catholics can effectively base their resistance to Ecclesiastical Novelty from whatever level of the hierarchy it may originate. Here is a particularly salient extract:"One of the things that we are trying to avoid is becoming Protestants, where one is left to one’s own judgment. As a Catholic, in all matters of religion one must submit one’s judgment to the judgment of the Church unless the Church in no way has pronounced judgment on the topic. However, once the Church pronounces judgment on it in any way or if there has been a discussion of that topic somewhere in the tradition, we are bound to investigate and submit our judgment to those who are higher than us in the ecclesiastical order. This itself is part of the supernatural virtue of prudence. So even if one finds oneself in a situation where a particular member of the Magisterium is saying things contrary to the faith, that does not allow us to make our own determination. What we are bound to do is take reasonable means to investigate what the tradition is and conform ourselves to it.
